Established in 2018 by Michelle Martínez, with the support of Lucy Janeth Martínez, two empowered women committed to transforming lives through the arts, Fundación Melao Arte y Cultura supports children, youth, and single mothers from vulnerable communities in Cali and other regions of Colombia, whose lives are deeply shaped by artistic expression.
The foundation promotes artistic empowerment through a comprehensive approach that integrates social, educational, economic, and psychological support—recognizing the individual and collective potential of its participants.
With a transformative and inclusive vision, Melao creates real opportunities for personal growth and artistic development, while contributing to the strengthening of the cultural and social fabric of the communities it serves.

In October 2025, our organization was included in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Civil Society database, strengthening our visibility in international cooperation spaces.

In February 2026, we obtained legal recognition as an educational institution focused on training and human development, granted by the Government of Valle del Cauca, strengthening our educational approach and expanding our capacity for social impact.

Our mission: To collect 300 school supply kits for children from Indigenous communities and the Agua Blanca District in Cali, as part of our ongoing projects Sembrando Sonrisas (Sowing Smiles) and Baile Sin Fronteras (Dancing Without Borders).
